posterResearch Ambassador

Trustee Jean Hogg is hoping that someone in the East Midlands would be interested in being a Research Ambassador, working with others to support small - or large! - research projects in U3As across the East Midlands. There is a lot going on out there and it would be great to have someone who could spread the word.  Follow this link to read the Research Ambassador Role Description, and there is also information on the national website, under Resources/Research.  Please do contact Jean at jean.hogg@u3a.org.uk  with queries or if you are interested in any way.

Woodhall Spa 10 Year Celebrations

Woodhall Spa
Woodhall Spa U3A's 10th anniversary celebrations were held on Thursday 7th November at The Coronation  Hall, Station Road, Woodhall Spa with 117 members and 4 guests attending.

Following a brief speech by the Chairman Les Wylde and the cutting of the anniversary cakes, the members enjoyed refreshments consisting of a choice of cake (death by chocolate, red velvet, lemon drizzle or gluten free lemon cake) and a glass of Prosecco or fruit juice, tea or coffee.

Members were able to socialise and enjoy the displays of activities put on by some of groups over the last 10 years, Military History, French, Ancestry, Quilting, Outings and the art group to name but a few. Photographs of the event are available to view on Flickr, click here.

A good time was had by all and the cake and Prosecco went down a treat!

Leicestershire & Rutland Inter U3A Quiz Night

Fourteen teams from the Leicestershire & Rutland Group of U3As took part in a highly successful, fun quiz evening on 26th March 2019, organised by South Leicestershire U3A at the Conservative Club, Market Harborough.  Bob Morris was quiz master, taking team members through his 8 rounds of questions, encompassing his own take on life and sense of humour.  Homemade cake (some of it made by our own Bake Off celebrity, Frances Quinn) and drinks helped the grey matter to keep working.

Winners pictured left, more information on the Leicestershire & Rutland  website.
